A royal city to discover all the year!

Saint-Jean-de-Luz: a bay, a fishing port, a pedestrian heart and animations all year round.

For a weekend or a holiday, in couple or family, Saint-Jean-de-Luz is an authentic city with a particularly rich past. The marriage of Louis XIV with the Infanta Maria Theresa of Austria was in 1660 one of the major dates of the history of this city. Born of the sea, Saint-Jean-de-Luz has been the center of whaling. Today, fishing for hake, tuna, sardines and anchovies is practiced.

Over the centuries, Saint-Jean-de-Luz has become a renowned seaside resort that has preserved its traditions. Six beaches allow everyone to find its happiness: bathing safely in family on the Grande Plage or surfing on the beaches of Acotz and Erromardie ... If the city gives priority to its heritage with the House of 'Infante, Maison Louis XIV and a whole range of activities are available: golf, surfing, guided walks, water sports, pelota, walks and sea fishing ...

The delicacies and specialties of Basque cuisine are numerous: ttoro, marmitako, chipirons, basque cake, macaroons and mouchous ... The heart of town in part pedestrian allows you to stroll quietly. Most of the city center shops are open all year round. In season, Sunday at 11 am, on Place Louis XIV, a musical entertainment is offered to walkers who can sit on the terrace to enjoy the songs or dances. Saint-Jean-de-Luz is the ideal starting point to discover the Basque Country. You will appreciate its exceptional environment of quality, the proximity of the cities like Bayonne, Biarritz or San-Sebastien and the campaign in Ainhoa or Sare.
